On Sunday, May 1st, departments from all over Southern Rhode Island & Southeastern CT attended the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters Leagues 2nd annual “Tanker Shuttle & Pump Operations" training at Ninigret Park. The first half of the training consisted of an overview of Drafting and Tanker Shuttle Operations. For the second portion, all departments participated in the real-time simulation of a large fire incident at a location with no nearby fire hydrants, (a concept very familiar to our region). In this case, additional mutual-aid engines and tankers would be needed to assist in shuttling a large volume of water to the fire scene, from multiple local water sources.
